African American Heritage Walking Tour

This special event Downtown Spartanburg Walking Tour will feature various African American heritage sites in downtown Spartanburg. Some of the sites included on the tour are the old courthouse, 1968 protest locations, Mary H. Wright greenway, Magnolia Street, and the location of the Freedom Flag presentation.
The tour will follow the approximated parade route of Spartanburg’s emancipation parade held on September 22, 1865 and then follow along Henry street and conclude at Morgan Square.
The tour consists of 2.1 miles of walking and will take 1 1/2 hours to complete.
Pre-registration is required. Tickets $10
This walking tour begins at the Zimmerelli Plaza of the Chapman Cultural Center and ends at the Spartanburg Regional History Museum.
Social distancing will be observed.
Parking is available in the parking garage next to the Chapman Cultural Center.
