The Scottish American “Shero”
Meet Mary Patton, the Scottish-American frontier woman who made gunpowder for the Patriots and helped arm the Revolution. This lively presentation will take you into the dangerous Carolina Backcountry, where loyalties divided families and ordinary settlers risked everything to challenge the British Crown.
Mary's story is one of skill, courage, and determination as a businesswoman, powder maker, and military supplier whose contributions helped sustain the fight for independence.
Presented by author, historian and museum director Marti Mongiello.

Homeschool Open Field Trip at the Seay House

Join other homeschool families for a hands-on, history-filled adventure! Our Homeschool Field Trip Days invite students of all ages to learn, explore, and make new friends—no large group or planning required. Just sign up, show up, and enjoy an educational morning designed especially with homeschoolers in mind.
Field trips consist of a guided tour, a living history activity, and a picnic lunch in our covered pavilion.
Guided tour will take you through the family home to learn about the three Seay sisters who lived in the home and ran their self-sufficient farm.
